FLORIDA PRIMARYYYYY!

Mitt Romney takes the delegates of Florida.

Today... has been the most interesting of all my days (attempting hours) on a political campaign.

I live in Lakeland, Florida and drive to St. Pete for school every day. Today I was given the day off my my professor in hopes of getting a few hours.

I set out on my own to find a supervisor and some hours... low and behold I missed the Former Speaker of the house himself by all of 37 minutes!

My journey today started out on the back porch of my house, reading the news online, and being on facebook. I got a little clever or so I think and started a search on Facebook for any leads on "headquarters" for Repulicans in my County, which later led to to find that Gingrich himself had a headquarters on one of the main roads in my hometown! SMALL WORLD! Especially for Polk County. I decided to get my self all pretty and head down there. There wasn't much left of the headquarters as the primary was coming to an end that night.

I did though meet someone that would sign off on hours and educate me in the world of campaigning. Mrs. Linda Ivell!

If not for her I would still be lost! I am a little bit as I still do not have near enough hours for my class! Thank Goodness for  a deadline as the end of April 2012! (end of the semester)

Mrs. Ivell and I went down to Bartow tonight. Lori Edwards, Supervisor of Elections was there tallying all the votes from the precincts. I got a behind the scenes preview of how things really work! I thought maybe I would get to see more and I was not previewed to information before the public but it was quite amazing the effort that goes into creating such a systemof tallying! Ofcourse, because it is Polk County... it did take almost 3 hours to tally all the votes! ;) 3 Hours closer to my goal though!

I will edit this post and put up the pictures from this night!

A huge THANK YOU to Mrs. Linda Ivell for helping and setting me on my way to succeeding!

I am beginning to see how politics take place in everyday life!

Still nothing from the Gingrich side to start getting some hours!

And onlyyyy a few days away  from the Florida Primaries... anyone have any ideas?

Attempting to get ahold of the Gingrich campaign is getting a little stressful!

I have emailed, called, emailed again, and make peoples phone ring on the hook!

I sound either very desperate or I am just being that aggressive!

The Florida Primaries are a week away, this would be perfect timing to see how things work and to maybe see Mr. Gingrich himself somewhere!

Hoping to hear something veryyyyyy sooooooon!

RICK PERRY DROPPED OUT!!!

As I was sitting in the middle of class lecture, the news that Rick Perry has dropped out of the race.

Was it funding? Or not enough supporters? Did he even give it a hard enough try by not even getting through South Carolina?

Rick Perry endorsed Newt Gingrich... this is where my journey on a political campaign will take me!

On another note, I put in for my topic on my research paper! Hopefully while working on the Gingrich campaign, I will be researching the Election of 1932... FDR! (turning point my history in my eyes)

The things they didn't tell you...

I met my supervisor for the first time today. His name was Todd Lewis. Young and very accomplished for his young age. He had been in the political areana for many years and expressed an interest while studying at Florida State University up in Tallahassee, Florida.

The few hours that I spent with my supervisor was talking and understanding the behind the scenes of the political arena, a lot was talked about that is not taught in our Political Science classrooms. I took away knowledge firsthandedly of the how politians interact with one another, what happens when agreements are being prepared (not always in an office), and what makes a good politician and how you may be able to believe certain aspects of what they are talking about!

Thank you for the experience!

Baynews9.com

For those who know me personally, this photo was not photo shopped in any way... that is me, Lacey, paying attention in class with her mouth shut! :)

Crazy idea, I know!

I just happen to look at my phone and saw a text message from a friend that had been browsing the news page and saw this. Sent me the picture and article!

Go and read for yourself!

Job Fair

What an interesting experience this has been! Talk about... I "thought" I knew who I wanted to work for. The representatives of the Candidates came to our class today and absolutely blew my mind.

So many differences... so many choices... and who is the right person to represent me and my beliefs!?

Big decision!

So who did I choose?

Well as I had said before this was a tough decision. There were some very close front runners, but at the end of the day my "beliefs" stand for what Rick Perry stands for. He is not afraid to answer questions. Perry has done wonders for Texas... let's see what he can do for our country!
